Design for Diversity (written by Boyuan
Gao and Jahan Mantin of Project Inkblot)
This got me thinking about questions and consciousness-raising (70’s socialist feminists + Plan C + samone samtwo (@samone_samtwo)) + how I can create questions to learn + consider different lived experiences.

Your Silence Will Not Protect You
Audre Lorde

reading this helped me to think about how there are no new ideas and the process of relearning + inter-generational learning is important “we find ourselves having to repeat and relearn the same old lessons over and over that our mothers did because we do not pass on what we have learned” - bringing to mind the value of vulnerability + sharing.

reading Lorde talk about poetry caused me to re-consider poetry as accessible + made me think about how to be fulfilled without relying on tools too much.

(Uses of Anger: Women responding to Racism) Anger + the fear of anger that teaches you nothing opposed to anger itself which is “loaded with information and energy” trying to learn how to notice feelings, reactions + thoughts.

(Man child) “Raising Black children - female and male - in the mouth of a racist, sexist, suicidal dragon is perilous and chancy. If they cannot love and resist at the same time, they will probably not survive. And in order to survive they must let go. This is what mothers teach - love, survival - that is, self-defnition and letting go. For each of these, the ability to feel strongly and to recognize those feelings is central: how to feel love, how to neither discount fear not be overwhelmed by it, how to enjoy feeling deeply.” - this felt very relevant to some of the feelings+ + lessons i'm currently working through, considering balance + learning how to feel love.

Fun Girl
Summer Walker
this song felt good to listen to when feeling a little moody + it reminds me of a Lauryn Hill song my parents used to play so I like that nostalgia also
