Being in an inside space in the city for lockdown made me think about far away spaces like the sea, the sky and mountains, I was lent the book ’Species of Spaces and Other Pieces’ by Georges Perec which studies different places/spaces, from a page in a book to the countryside. I’ve attached an extract to the chapter ’The Street’ (p47)!

DIY Utopia extract - Architecture

Number 3 is an extract from a book called DIY Utopia (which also has a chapter on DIY Radio Utopia!). The subchapter called 'Architecture Fiction’ in the chapter ‘Implausible Futures for Unpopular Places’ describes an app made by Irene Cheng and Brett Snyder called ‘Museum of the Phantom City' which gives you (only when you are close enough to the site) information on unrealised utopian buildings and spaces in New York City. Radiolab ‘Dinopocalypse’ episode

Number 4 is another podcast about the impact of the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs and the discovery that it happened sometime between June and July that year. Scientists found two kinds of pollen preserved in rocks that dated to the time they went extinct. Based on an analysis of those two kind of pollen they found that the impact of the meteor took place some time between the flowering of the lotus and the flowering of the waterlily.
